Elden Ring Nightreignjust shadow-dropped a harder version of the Gaping Jaw Expedition against Night Lord Adel, Baron of the Night, and fans are quickly discovering it’s the game’s hardest challenge yet. Developer FromSoftware had previously announced that aDuos Mode would be addedto the three-player co-op rougelike title, and in that same update, the developers stated they would be adding harder versions of existing bosses this month, and the first new fight is a doozy.
In a Reddit post byjspsfx, fans are discussing the surprise shadow-drop of the new Everdark Sovereign difficulty tier, andseveral fans are finding they are getting"obliterated"by Lord Adel’s new mechanics, likejoelybunz. The addition of the boss was not mentioned in the game’sofficial patch notesthat were posted earlier in the day, so a lot of players are jumping in to play the game blind and give the new boss a go, and are getting quickly humbled. The boss is time-limited, and only available from now until June 26, as detailed byBandai Namco.
How Difficult Is The New Elden Ring Nightreign Boss?
The Game’s Biggest Challenge Yet
The Everdark Sovereign bosses are designedto challenge those players who have already defeated Nightreign’s eight Night Lords, and are now thegame’s biggest challenge. The new version of Adel, Baron of the Night has a lot of fans questioning if anyone has even defeated it yet, due to its high health pool, much faster movement, stronger attacks, a new AOE tornado attack, several particle effects that can clutter the screen, and the boss’s intense aggression from starting in its phase two at the very beginning of the fight.
The boss has been defeated by dedicated players, butnot without a lot of work. The regular boss was weak to poison, and this new version also is, so fans are making builds around that and seem to also be relying a lot on Iron Eye’s long-range weapons and skills, while other players draw its attention. But even teams at max level with legendary weapons and poison builds are still finding that the boss is extremely challenging. Even though thebase game was missing features, it seems like fans can’t get enough of the classicSoulschallenge.
Elden Ring Nightreign Already Getting New Bosses Is A Great Sign
Hopefully, This Is A Game That Gets Supported For A Long Time
Nightreignhas the skeleton of a great rougelike, but the game has some notably missing features that hamper the experience, like no voice chat for a game focused on co-op, a lot of reused assets and bosses from previousSoulsgames, and the extreme rarity of spells, useful legendary weapons, and items that suited for the Nightfarer you are currently playing. However, when everything comes together, the game is a lot of fun, andnew content this early into the game’s life is excellent newsfor fans ofElden Ringand rougelikes.
With DLC on the way, which will include additional classes, new bosses, and maybe more, hopefully, these Everdark Sovereign challenges will tide fans over until then. Some fans have reportedly defeated the new boss solo, so it can be done, which should remind everyone to keep trying to overcomeElden Ring Nightreign’s biggest challenge yet.
