Wednesdayseason 2 is getting closer, and the show’s new trailer just pointed out how much has changed for Jenna Ortega’s character since the show’s debut. Unlike season 1, which was released all at once in November 2022,Wednesdayseason 2 will be split into two partsacross August and September.
Thestory forWednesdayseason 2will predominantly take place at Nevermore Academy again, but this time around, Jenna Ortega’s titular character will be joined by her brother, Pugsley. In fact, the upcoming season will feature even more Addams Family characters, such as the introduction of Grandmama to the Netflix series.
Of course, it wouldn’t beWednesdaywithout darkness and deadly threats.Wednesdayseason 2’s trailerteases that Enid will be in danger this season, with Ortega’s character vowing to save her best friend. While the new season will feature new surprises, the trailer also highlights a major change in Wednesday’s social status since her first year at Nevermore.
Wednesday Has A Fan Club In Season 2 After Being An Outcast During Her First Year At Nevermore
Wednesday’s Social Status Has Changed
When Wednesday first arrived at Nevermore Academy, she was essentially an outcast among outcasts. Due to her morbid nature and reluctance to fit in, it took her a while to open up to others. She finally did, particularly with Enid and Xavier, but by theend ofWednesdayseason 1, some of her friendships backfired, such as the case with Tyler.
That said, Wednesday ended up being somewhat of a hero after defeating Crackstone and helping save Nevermore Academy. In the season 2 trailer, Steve Buscemi’s headmaster character even commends Wednesday for what she did for the school. After a rough start at Nevermore,Wednesday has also acquired a fan club since the events of season 1.
Several underclassmen are shown in the season 2 trailer with Wednesday’s classic braided pigtails. Aside from leaving notes of admiration and fan art on her dorm’s door, the group of girls also ask for Wednesday’s autograph, to which she hilariously reacts by saying how she only signs her name in blood, but not her “own blood.”
One new character inWednesdayseason 2, in particular, seems to be the leader of Wednesday’s new fan club. The trailer hints that the young student will emerge as more than just a fan, considering she’s seen hiding out with Enid as they witness something shocking that Wednesday has just done offscreen.
Wednesday’s Celebrity Status In Season 2 Mirrors Jenna Ortega’s Rise
Ortega’s Star Power Has Grown Immensely
Interestingly, Wednesday’s rise in popularity around Nevermore Academy seems to be following what has happened to Jenna Ortega’s stardom since the Netflix show premiered. Ortega was already on the rise when she was cast in theAddams Family-inspired series, but the show’s record-breaking popularity certainly expanded her notoriety.
Ortega has been vocal about her transition into an A-lister after working from such a young age. Getting used to that wider popularity can’t be easy, especially after Wednesday and Ortega herself have become viral sensations since her Netflix debut. There’s no doubt thatOrtega’s movies and shows are now reaching a wider audience.
Still, it will be fun to see how Wednesday reacts to her new social status at Nevermore in season 2. It’s no question that Ortega’s return in the role will bring back viewers, but it remains to be seen how much she’s truly changed since attending the school inWednesdayseason 1.
