1000-Lb SistersstarTammy Slatonjust got a facelift, as well as skin removal on other parts of her body, andwhile Tammy looks greatand seems happy (despite some pre-op anxiety), it’s possible that weight loss or gain could negatively impact her results. Plastic surgery can be empowering, but there are always possible drawbacks. As with bariatric surgery, patients are supposed to follow post-op lifestyle recommendations. In general, keeping weight at the pre-surgery level is the best strategy for maintaining results, but not everyone can do it.

Tammy once had trouble losing weight. Her sister,1000-lb Sisters' Amy Slaton, was approved for bariatric surgery before Tammy was because Amy dug deep, really motivating herself. Amy dreamed of being a mother - because it would be hard to conceive at a higher weight, she stuck to a diet. For Tammy, the process of getting approved for a weight-loss operation was tough. She wanted to party sometimes - she was young and developed some bad habits beyond emotional eating. Partying made it harder for Tammy to lose enough weight to get the green light for surgery.

Tammy’s Processing A Big Change

Is She Okay?

Tammy once weighed 725 pounds - now, she’s 500 pounds thinner. Her weight loss left her with a great deal of excess skin - in fact, her surgeon removed 15 pounds of it during the all-day procedure. Tammy probably had a very rough recovery after the operation. It takes weeks before the pain goes away. Then, there is the process of adjusting to a radically altered appearance. While she may be happy with her results, it’s always possible that she’s feeling mixed emotions - and perhaps missing the face and body that she’d grown accustomed to. With change, there’s always a learning curve.

More roadblocks lie ahead in a life that’s already been marked by tragedy and suffering. Tammy’s high weight made her a target for bullies - in fact, she still gets hassled by trolls now, although she’s lost hundreds of pounds. Haters call her out for having a missing tooth - they dissed her for her excess skin too, making her so sad that she cried.

This is a woman who once contemplated taking her own life. Now, Tammy must maintain her results or risk more of their wrath. If she gains or loses weight, she could undo the results that were so hard to achieve. Hopefully, that won’t happen.

Tammy’s Been Through So Much Turmoil

Her Heart Was Broken

Tammy lost her ex-husband, Caleb Willingham, who died due to complications linked with super-morbid obesity. He was a sweet and romantic man - a sensitive and gentle soul who probably turned to food to soothe his spirit. Maybe Tammy did the same thing. So often, the people that society judges for not fitting a certain mold are not bad people. They might even be the most tender and emotional people of all, filled with empathy and understanding.

Tammy used to be cranky a lot, but she was trapped in her body. Once her bariatric surgery results began to happen, her spirit lightened. She became who she was really supposed to be.

Now, she must fight the darkness. Yes, she looks wonderful with a chiseled jawline and sleeker midsection. Her legs are not as heavy, which means that it will be easier to move. All of these changes can ease some of the misery she’s had to withstand for so long. But she’ll need to live in fear, wondering if she can sustain the results that are making her more “Instagram-friendly” and more commercial looking. If she fails to do this, her self-esteem could be damaged. She has been through so much already.

So, there could be trouble ahead. The pressure to stay on a diet may feel like a lot to live with. It has in the past.

Now, she has even more to lose. The last thing she wants is to gain weight and need more surgery. Going under the knife can be traumatic. As great as it is to see Tammy without the loose skin that was holding her back, she is more than a shell. She’s more than skin and how she looks. She is a human being. Inside of Tammy is the same woman whose eating was out of control - a vulnerable woman who was unhappy, and ate to forget that for a while.

Fans should be gentle with Tammy. While she seems to be on top of the world, things are always as they seem to be. Only she knows how she feels inside. At any weight, she has value as a person.

Even at her heaviest, she was a star - someone whose Leo charisma radiated. She became a pop culture phenomenon because of her personality. She wasn’t a shrinking violet due to her weight. She had enough courage to be herself, to make people laugh, to show even her darker emotions. She was a real person with a lot of light and shadow.

Tammy Deserves Kindness From Fans

She’s Walked A Rocky Path

When people see glow-ups, they may assume that everything’s okay in a person’s life, but inside, that person might feel a lot like they always did. That’s why it’s important to, as Harry Style sings,“treat people with kindness.“The more kindness Tammy receives, the better her chances of maintaining her results, as stress can push people back into addictive behavior. Tammy looks great, but plastic surgery doesn’t solve every problem. In fact, before providing plastic surgery, doctors talk to patients, assessing their mental health. Do they have realistic expectations? Do they think that plastic surgery will fix every single thing that’s wrong? If they believe such things, a surgeon may have second thoughts about performing a procedure. Patients must understand what’s really possible and what isn’t. Tammy seems happy with her results, but it remains to be seen whether she’ll continue to be glad she had such an invasive procedure.

1000-lb Sisters' Tammy Slatonis glowing - she’s stepping into more power as a woman because she’s getting the look she always wanted. However, fans should go easy on the charming and fiesty reality queen. Tammy’s strong, but she can be hurt.
