M3GAN 2.0is nearly here, but talks of a spinoff movie are already underway thanks to a recent announcement from Blumhouse Studios. It has already been confirmed thatM3GAN 2.0is not the last film in theM3GANfranchise, and while it will continue on, it isn’t yet known if the story of the titular character will be continued alongside it.
Screen Rant’s Liam Crowley at theM3GAN 2.0red carpet premiere event, Blumhouse Productions CEO Jason Blum was asked about whether or not M3GAN will appear inSOULM8TE, the upcomingM3GANspinoff. The film will follow a man who buys an android woman after the death of his wife. IfM3GANis anything to go by, things will go horribly wrong.
Blum declined to answer whether or notM3GAN would appear inSOULM8TE, saying that the spinoff is a “distant cousin” of the original two films. According to Blum, “SOULM8TE has a very different feel from the two M3GAN movies,” implying that M3GAN may not fit into the story. However, it is still up in the air whether she will show up. Well, this is a distant cousin. SOULM8TE is an R-rated movie. I can’t say whether M3GAN is in the movie or not, but SOULM8TE has a very different feel from the two M3GAN movies.

Based on Jason Blum’s comments, it seems like M3GAN will not play a major role in the story ofSOULM8TE. If she was a main character,it would be hard to keep that under wraps. However, that doesn’t destroy the possibility of her appearing entirely.
M3GAN could have a cameo inSOULM8TE, as it is possible that the two androids could come from the same company. Depending onhowM3GAN 2.0ends, she could become an android hunter, with her going after the titular robot in the spinoff.
However, her not appearing at all may be a good thing. IfSOULM8TEwants to be tonally different, as its darker premise makes it seem, having the comedic girlboss android show up could hurt this tone.Instead, lettingSOULM8TEbe its own thing would allow the franchise to expand beyond the series' main character.

M3GAN Probably Shouldn’t Appear
I think it would be better forM3GAN to not appear inSOULM8TEat all. It would be hard for a cameo not to feel forced, and it would prevent the spinoff from feeling like its own thing, as Blum seems to imply that it is.
However, having M3GAN appear would undoubtedly helpSOULM8TE. The spinoff could use M3GAN to market the movie, further tying it into the existence and potential success ofM3GAN 2.0.
