Warning: Contains SPOILERS for MobLand’s season 1 finale.

The Paramount+ original British crime dramaMobLandbecame a hit for the streamer in early 2025, but will the series get renewed for season 2? Developed for the small screen by Ronan Bennett (with Guy Ritchie attached as producer),MobLandconcerns the Harrigan family, whose “fixer,” Harry Da Souza (Tom Hardy), is tasked with ending their feud with the Stevensons. With an all-star cast of Britain’s finest talents,MobLandcontinues the legacy of shows likePeaky Blindersbut with the fast-paced punchiness of a Guy Ritchie production.

MobLand’s path to the small screen was an unusual one, and it was originally developed asa spinoff of the popular Showtime series,Ray Donovan. However, it soon deviated from its original concept and became the standalone series seen in season 1. This change actually allowsMobLandto flourish, and the fledgling series now has a chance to build its own legacy without the baggage of an established franchise. Now, with the war between the Harrigans and Stevensons over afterMobLandseason 1’s ending, but bigger threats to face, Harry’s story is ripe for a second season.

Tom Hardy Discussed Season 2’s Potential

With season 1 continuing to deliver exciting episodes each week, the latest news findsTom Hardy discussingMobLandseason 2. Though nothing is confirmed yet,the actor revealed that there is a plan in place to continue the story beyond season 1. After confirming thatMobLandis indeed not supposed to be a miniseries, the award-winner began speculating about what could come next for the London crime series. “Does it become international?” mused Hardy, before adding, “There are international elements to organized crime, which are touched on in season one.”

That would be the most logical next step for the show, anda series likeMobLandis only ever going to escalate tensions and never deescalate them. This would fit with season 1, which introduced Jaime as the leader of a Mexican gang, and also the arrival of the American Kat McAllister, who seems to be the most powerful character in the entire series. Her and Harry’s story is far from finished, so it’d make sense to go even further abroad.

The plan is definitely to see more seasons. The question is: Does it become international? There are international elements to organized crime, which are touched on in season one. The control of drugs and ammunition and weapons and people and all kinds of things that go through Europe and from Africa through to South America, Pakistan… and the variable commodities that move around Europe.

There are families that are involved in each European country that are vying for power to have that status to be able to move these kinds of commodities through. And who polices that and how that fits into a world stage.

MobLand Season 2 Is Not Confirmed

Paramount+ Has Not Renewed The Show Yet

Despite the fact thatMobLandhas been putting up stellar numbers for the streamer so far,Paramount+ has yet to renew the show. This isn’t particularly surprising, especially when considering the myriad of metrics that are involved in determining the success and failure of modern streaming TV. Unlike a network show which relies largely on live broadcast ratings,Paramount+ likely evaluates long-term stats to determine if audiences are truly engaging with the show.

MobLand’s season 1 premiere was watched by 2.2 million viewerson the day of release, a Paramount+ record.

Pierce Brosnan as Conrad Harrigan in MobLand

However,MobLandprobably isn’t struggling in those categories, especially with the star-power of its leads. Crime dramas are flourishing on streaming, andMobLandis yet another example of how popular they can be. The streamer is also no stranger to the genre, with shows likeTulsa King,Mayor of Kingstown, andDexter: Original Sinall making up some ofParamount+’s best original shows. GivenMobLand’s premiere was a record debut for the service and it’s remained a strong performer, it’s likely season 2 will eventually be confirmed.
