Bethesda’s E3 2017 press conferencemight not have been the same mix of shocking announcements and impressive gameplay reveals as its 2016 show, but that’s admittedly setting the bar quite high. Even still, Bethesda managed to get fans talking about several upcoming titles, including the newWolfenstein 2: The New Colossus. This new instalment to a beloved cult classic universe will feature just as much Nazi-killing action as its predecessors, but some elements of the game definitely appear to be changing for the better, including the sheer scale of the team involved inWolfenstein 2: The New Colossus' development.

Those looking for proof need look no further than the PlayStation Live E3 2017 stream that aired earlier today, which featured some insight into the process of makingWolfenstein 2. During an interview with two developers from MachineGames, it was revealed that the studio had shot more than 40 hours worth of motion capture footage alone, and that this impressive feat was fueled by an impressive team of over 100 actors working with the mo-cap technology.

Of course, a lot of that footage has to go somewhere, and the duo being interviewed also suggested thatWolfenstein 2would feature “super interesting characters” worthy of the amount of time put into character model animations. The fact thatWolfenstein 2will tour Americain an alternate dystopian timeline certainly opens up a number of intriguing possibilities for MachineGames, and it will be fascinating to see where the developers choose to go with such a combustible narrative.

The more things change in the world ofWolfenstein, however, the more they also stay the same. Fans of the series won’t need to worry about things being too unfamiliar, asWolfensteinprotagonist BJ Blazkowicz will return to battle the Nazi menace once more.Wolfenstein 2will also be getting a collector’s editionwith a BJ Blazkowicz action figure, which will certainly appeal to fans of the series who have been clamoring for more items related toWolfenstein: The New Orderand more.

Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossuswill be released on August 01, 2025, for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
