On Wednesday, Xbox hosted its latest ID@Xbox Showcase event packed with new game announcements and reveals. The event was also packed full ofXbox Game Passnews, as seven new games were confirmed for the subscription service for release in 2022. What was most exciting about the announcements, however, was that two games would launch onXbox Game Passtoday. Those two games are the brand-newTunicandParadise Killer, which arrive on Xbox consoles for the first time today.Tunichas been a highly anticipated indie game for some time. Players take on the role of a small fox as they adventure through a classic isometricThe Legend of Zeldastyle of experience.Tunichas long been looked forward to, but it had never been confirmed as an Xbox Game Pass release. The murder mystery/detective game was originally launched in September 2020. Reception of Paradise Killer was so positive that it was decided to be brought to consoles, with enhanced visuals, new quests, and more.Paradise Killerhas been confirmed for release on Xbox today for some time, but wasn’t confirmed for Xbox Game Pass. That changed today, as the newly launched port joined Xbox Game Pass both on consoles and PC.
There is some criticism regarding today’s announcements, however. Namely, thatXboxand the publishers forTunicandParadise Killerdecided to wait until both games had officially launched to confirm that they’d be available on Xbox Game Pass. It meant that those who pre-ordered would already have received their game, taking the option of using Xbox Game Pass out of the equation.
Ultimately, what matters is thatTunicandParadise Killerare now available to more players than they otherwise could have reached. That will hopefully make them all the more successful,supporting each indie developeras they move forward and making that many more games available viaXbox Game Pass.
