Xenoblade Chronicleswas a huge hit for Nintendo and Monolith Soft when it was released on the Wii way back in 2010. TheDefinitive Editioncoming out for the Switch this month will be packing some new features into an already full package.

Set in a world where all of humankind (and all machine-kind) live on the backs of two titanic gods,Xenoblade Chroniclesis a game filled with JRPG tropes and unusual lore. But with an uptempo battle system and a great soundtrack, the game proved to be a hit. It was so well received, that the game was ported to the Nintendo 3DS, a version of the game that has somedifferences from the upcoming Switch edition.

While the 3DS version of the game may include a few things the Switch version won’t have, the Switch version will include a Time Attack mode. By accessing special gates found throughout the world, players will be able to take on challenge battles that require players to complete them as quickly as possible. The reward for doing so will be something called Nopon Crystals, which players can trade in for equipment and gems.

With the Switch proving to be a hugely popular system, games are being remastered and re-released on the console to reach new audiences. Rumors abound thata number of the 3DMariogames(Galaxy, Sunshine,3D World) will be making an appearance, much likeXenoblade Chronicles.

In addition to the Time Attack mode,Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Editionwill also include anew epilogue chapter called “Future Connected,“taking place one year after the events of the main game.

All in all, this edition of the game is shaping up nicely, and it won’t be long before it’s in fans' hands.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Editionwill launch on the Switch on May 29th.
